Islamabad DC moves IHC against sentence

A Islamabad deputy commissioner, who was sentenced to six months term, has challenged the verdict in the Islamabad High Court on Friday.

Earlier today, the Islamabad High Court had awarded Irfan Nawaz Memon six months sentence in the contempt of court case.

DC Memon has filed an intra-court petition in the high court, challenging sentence awarded to him.

According to the IHC verdict, the deputy commissioner was found guilty of misconduct and exceeding his authority.

The IHC has also awarded 4-month sentence and a fine of Rs100,000 to SSP operations while the SHO has been handed over 2-month term and a fine of Rs100,000. However. The SSP Saddar has been acquitted in the contempt of court case.

It may be mentioned here the deputy commissioner had issued an MPO order for the arrest of PTI leader Sheheryar Afridi.
