There was no treaty of alliance with Pakistan: White House
The White House has clarified that Pakistan was never a tactical ally of the United States.
John Kirby told a press briefing that Pakistan was never a technical ally of the United States.
When asked about what the Joe Biden administration had done in response to Islamabad’s appeal against rising cross-border terrorism, he added: “I mean, there was no treaty of alliance with Pakistan.”
He, however, acknowledged that the US and Pakistan have joined hands on a number of occasions in the fight against terrorism.
Kirby added that certainly, over many, many years in the last couple of decades, we partnered with Pakistan as appropriate to deal with the terrorist threat.… that still exists on that spine between Afghanistan and Pakistan, he added
The White House official also mentioned that the US authorities recognised that Pakistani people were still becoming victim to terrorist violence coming from across that border.
