Karachi Transport strike ends after successful talks with administration
Karachi commuters got major relief on Sunday as the Karachi Transport Alliance ended its three-day strike after successful talks with the city administration.
With the strike called off, public transport services are expected to return to normal from Monday, easing problems for daily passengers and businesses.
The decision came after a meeting between representatives of the Karachi Transport Alliance and the Commissioner Karachi, where key issues behind the strike were discussed.
According to sources, authorities agreed to give a two-month extension on the biometric verification requirement linked to vehicle ownership transfers. This was one of the main demands of transport operators.
Officials also assured that concerns over Rs12,000 third-party insurance charges would be resolved.
Both sides reviewed transport-related matters and agreed to hold another meeting after 15 days to review progress and remaining issues.
The Karachi Transport Alliance will also hold an internal meeting soon to review the government’s assurances and decide its next steps.
The end of the strike is expected to restore normal travel routines in Karachi, where thousands of people depend on buses, coaches, and minibuses every day.
