The federal information minister has said that insulting and mocking the martyrs is not acceptable in any case and people behind such actions would be brought to justice.

“Yesterday, there was a terrorist incident in North Waziristan in which soldiers and officers of Pakistan Army were martyred but a political party started an insulting campaign on social media regarding the sacrifices of the martyrs,” Attaullah Tarar told a news conference today.

The information minister said that a political party had already adopted derogatory behavior against martyrs in the past. PTI’s social media team is behind these accounts, he added.

Tarar further said that such attitude towards the martyrs is intolerable. Pakistan Army, police and people have sacrificed in the war against terrorism. We stand with the families of the martyrs. The people behind the social media campaign have been identified and they will be brought to justice very soon.

Attaullah Tarar said that those who make fun of the sacrifices of the martyrs do not deserve any concession. One can make criticism a hundred times, but please don’t do this against the martyrs. The anti-Pakistan lobby across the border is also contributing to this heinous campaign, he added.

The information minister further said that work is being done on tax reforms and restructuring of FBR as not a day goes by when the prime minister does not hold a meeting related to the economy. Economic stability comes only as a result of political stability, he said.

He said that the prime minister is holding meetings on economic matters on a daily basis. The country’s economic situation requires urgent measures. Loss-making institutions will be privatized, he concluded.
