PTI founder gets relief in another case

An Islamabad court acquitted PTI founder Imran Khan, Asad Umar and other party leaders in a case pertaining to taking out a rally.

Hearing the case, Judicial Magistrate Mureed Abbas acquitted PTI founder, Asad Omar, Raja Khurram Nawaz and Ali Awan in a case concerning taking out a rally.

The case was registered against PTI founder Imran Khan, Asad Omar and Ali Awan at the Margalla Police Station.

Earlier, the Islamabad High Court had suspended sentence awarded to PTI founder Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi in Toshakhana case.

A two-member bench headed by the Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court heard PTI founder Imran Khan’s plea for suspension of sentence in the Toshakhana case, in which Ali Zafar argued on behalf of former prime minister.

During the hearing, the court asked whether the appeal is scheduled for hearing today. Will not initiate an appeal instead present argument for suspension of sentence if you wish.

On this, Ali Zafar said that instead of suspending the sentence, we will argue on the main appeal.

Chief Justice Amir Farooq said that after hearing the Toshakhana case today, we cannot keep it for hearing tomorrow. FIA’s arguments are to start after cipher case, we don’t know how much time they take, we will schedule Toshakhana case after Eid, he observed.

During the hearing, the NAB prosecutor said that the decision has been reviewed and this is a case of suspension of sentence.

Later, the court suspended the sentence of PTI founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi in the Toshakhana case and ordered them to be released on bail.

Chief Justice Amir Farooq said that the appeal against the sentence will be fixed after Eid.
