Senate elections in KP postponed

The Election Commission of Pakistan has postponed the Senate elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Earlier, the opposition members in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have submitted a request to postpone the Senate election.

Ahmad Karim Kundi of the opposition in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had submitted an application to the provincial election commissioner in which it is requested to postpone the election.

It was said in the petition that 25 opposition members have not sworn in yet, so the Senate election should be postponed.

Meanwhile, polling is underway for Senate elections.

Polling process has started for the election of 30 seats in the Senate, which will continue till 4 pm.

For the polling of the Senate election, the hall of the National Assembly has been converted into a polling station where the staff of the Election Commission is performing its duties.

18 candidates have been elected unopposed in Senate election and today 59 candidates are competing.

Elections will be held on 29 general, 8 women, 9 technocrats or Ulema and two non-Muslim seats in the Senate.

Election on one general, one technocrat seat of the federal capital, two women from Punjab, two technocrats or Ulema and one non-Muslim seat will be held.

Similarly, polling is being held for 7 general, 2 women, 2 technocrats or Ulema and one non-Muslim seat in Sindh.

Candidates have won unopposed on 7 general seats of Punjab, 7 general seats of Balochistan, 2 women and 2 technocrat or Ulema  seats.
