The US Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation, Zalmay Khalilzad has arrived in Doha, Qatar.

He returns Qatar to continue determined diplomacy in pursuit of a peace agreement between the Afghan government and Taliban.

Furthermore, he said the US President Joe Biden has underlined a negotiated settlement as the only solution to the Afghan issue.

Biden made clear in his recent remarks this and that America’s military engagement in Afghanistan is coming to an end.

Zalmay Khalilzad said we will work vigorously with all Afghan parties and regional and international stakeholders to try and help the sides find a path to ending this war.

He further said that any solution to the Afghan issue should ensure Afghanistan’s security, unity, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and end the agony of the Afghan people.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi also underscored a negotiated settlement as the best option for durable peace in Afghanistan.

He said this, while talking to media persons in Multan.

He further said Pakistan wishes to engage senior leaders of Afghanistan for holding talks to seek a durable peace, which is possible only through a negotiated political settlement.
