Pakistan strongly condemns blasts in Bamiyan city in Afghanistan, which resulted in loss of precious human lives and injuries to several others.

Foreign Office Spokesperson Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri issued a statement today (Wednesday).

He said Pakistan stands in solidarity with Afghan nation in this hour of grief and reiterate its commitment to a peaceful, stable and prosperous Afghanistan.

Earlier, Radio Pakistan reported that at least 17 people were killed in two explosions in Bamiyan city of Bamiyan province.

More that 50 other people wounded in the blasts.

According to spokesman for the provincial police chief in Bamiyan, two bombs exploded in quick succession in a local market.

Meanwhile, no group has claimed the responsibility for the blasts yet.

However, Aljazeera quoted Zabardast Safai, the police chief of the province as saying the explosives hidden at the side of a road.

Bamiyan houses many members of the mainly Hazara Shia Muslim community.

The victims included civilians, including children, and two traffic police officers.

According to the interior ministry, the blasts ripped through the marketplace in the evening rush hour.

Spokesman Tariq Arian said two magnetic bombs caused the blasts in the crowded market, calling it an “unforgivable crime”.
