New school timings from August 18 in Punjab Schools

Islamabad, August 14, 2025 — All public and private schools in Punjab will partially reopen starting Monday, August 18. Classes will resume for 9th and 10th graders, O Level and A Level students, and Intermediate (FA/FSc) students.

This decision comes earlier than the previously planned reopening date of September 1. Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat said the move was made after expert consultations emphasizing the need to restart higher classes early to avoid disruptions in education.

Lower Grades to Continue Summer Break

Students in grades 1 through 8 will remain on their summer break and are scheduled to return to school on September 1.

School Timings to Adjust Due to Heatwave

Authorities have instructed all schools to follow strict safety guidelines because of the ongoing heatwave. Measures include providing adequate drinking water, ensuring proper ventilation, and adjusting school hours to protect students.

From August 18, the school timings will be:

• Single shift schools: 7:30 am to 1:00 pm (Monday to Thursday), and 7:30 am to 11:30 am (Friday).

• Morning shift: 7:30 am to 1:00 pm (Monday to Thursday), 7:30 am to 11:30 am (Friday).

• Evening shift: 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm (Monday to Thursday), 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm (Friday).

The government urges schools to ensure student safety during these hot days while resuming education.
