PSL 2026 ceremony at Lord’s as Stars applaud league’s impact
The Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026 ceremony is currently taking place at the historic Lord’s Cricket Ground in England. The special event has brought together some of Pakistan’s biggest cricket stars and officials for a proud moment in the country’s cricket history.
The ceremony featured a panel discussion with PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, former chairman Ramiz Raja, and legendary fast bowler Wasim Akram. While speaking at the event, Ramiz Raja said the ceremony marked “a proud moment for all Pakistanis, especially cricketers.” He said that seeing PSL at the home of cricket shows how much the league has grown around the world. He also said that holding PSL and IPL at the same time is difficult because both leagues compete for viewers and attention.
Wasim Akram said the PSL is giving strong chances to local players. He said the league is becoming bigger every year and added, “I really enjoy the PSL and I’m looking forward to the next season.” He also advised the owners of new PSL teams to stay patient and supportive. “If the team loses today, it will win tomorrow,” he said.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi said the board wants to make PSL the best league in the world. He shared that this vision was started by former chairman Najam Sethi. Naqvi added that Pakistan’s players are very talented, and the board is working to improve their skills. “We are upgrading the High Performance Centre with modern facilities, and work is also underway on the Karachi High Performance Centre,” he said.
PSL Chief Executive Salman Naseer called the event at Lord’s a big success and a proud moment for Pakistan. He said, “The PSL is Pakistan’s most successful sporting product.” He added that the league plays an important role in promoting cricket around the world. He also said Pakistani fans love the PSL and confirmed that bidding for two new PSL teams is now open.
Pakistan cricket stars Babar Azam, Sahibzada Farhan, and Haris Rauf also shared their thoughts about PSL in recent interviews. Babar Azam said, “My journey with the PSL has been excellent as I have always focused on my game, and senior players have provided great guidance. The successful organization of the PSL is a major achievement for Pakistan cricket. The league has consistently given Pakistan a positive image internationally and provided young players with a strong platform to improve.”
Sahibzada Farhan said, “Domestic cricket plays an important role in shaping your game. PSL accelerates your growth by giving you the chance to learn from international players and from senior players like Babar Azam.” Haris Rauf said, “PSL has played a key role at important turning points in my career. Playing for Pakistan is a true honor, and PSL has prepared me for that opportunity.”
The event was attended by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and PSL Chief Executive Salman Naseer. Babar Azam, Sahibzada Farhan, and Haris Rauf were also present at the ceremony. Ramiz Raja and Wasim Akram added excitement to the evening by meeting fans and sharing their PSL stories.
Singer Ali Zafar also performed the PSL anthem with great energy, which received loud applause from the crowd at the famous Lord’s ground.
