Punjab schools winter vacations extended by another week
The Punjab government has decided to extend school holidays by one week, keeping in mind the health of students and the severe cold.
Under this decision, all educational institutions in the province will now reopen on January 19.
Provincial Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat said the decision was based on a public survey conducted on his social media page. The majority of participants supported extending the holidays.
The survey results show that about 87% of people favored extending the holidays, while 13% wanted schools to reopen on January 12. A total of 154,178 votes were cast in favor of January 19, and 24,829 votes supported January 12.
Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat said that after public consultation, the government decided to prioritize students’ health by extending the break.
He also directed all CEOs of Education to ensure full implementation of this decision in their respective districts.
