Ishaq Dar, Libyan Foreign Minister Discuss Bilateral Ties and Regional Developments

NEW YORK: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar met Libya’s Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Al-Taher Al-Baour on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.

The two sides expressed interest in further strengthening friendly relations between Pakistan and Libya, with particular focus on trade, education and business-to-business exchanges.

The ministers also discussed regional and international developments, including the evolving situation in the Middle East.

Their talks covered the potential impact of the regional situation on peace and security, energy supplies and the global economy, particularly developing countries.

The Libyan foreign minister appreciated Pakistan’s constructive diplomatic efforts aimed at promoting regional peace and stability.

Ishaq Dar stressed that dialogue and diplomacy remain the only viable means of addressing regional challenges.

He also emphasised the need for all parties to return to the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) as a way forward for advancing regional stability.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of UNGA 81, where Pakistan has continued diplomatic engagement with international partners on regional and global issues.
