PMDC raises MDCAT fee by 80%
The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has increased the MDCAT test fee again, making it harder for many students and families who want to become doctors.
Big Increase in Fees
In 2023, the MDCAT fee was Rs. 5,000
In 2024, it increased to Rs. 7,000
Now in 2025, the fee is Rs. 9,000
This means the fee has gone up by 80% in just two years.
PMDC is expected to collect nearly Rs. 2.96 billion from students this year if the number of candidates stays the same as last year (around 33,000).
Test Date and Locations
The MDCAT 2025 exam will be held on Sunday, October 5, 2025, in Pakistan and Saudi Arabia at the same time.
Who will conduct the exam in each region?
Punjab – University of Health Sciences (UHS), Lahore
Sindh – Sukkur IBA University
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa – KMU, Peshawar
Balochistan – Bolan Medical University, Quetta
Federal areas, AJK, GB & Riyadh – SZABMU, Islamabad
Registration Dates and Fee Details
Registration opens: August 8, 2025
Last date: August 25, 2025
Late registration ends: September 1, 2025
Fees:
Within Pakistan:
Regular: Rs. 9,000
Late: Rs. 13,000
International (Riyadh):
Regular: Rs. 45,000
Late: Rs. 55,000
Note: Fees are not refundable or transferable.
Test Centres
The MDCAT will take place in cities like:
Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta, Muzaffarabad, Mirpur, Rawalakot, Multan, Faisalabad, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Abbottabad, Swat, Gilgit, and Riyadh (KSA).
Students must choose their test city based on domicile, and can’t change it later.
Exam Format
- The test will have 180 MCQs, in English only
- No negative marking
- Subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English, and Logical Reasoning
Difficulty level:
- 15% easy
- 70% moderate
- 15% hard
