Sindh announces new school fee rules for 2026–27
The Sindh government has announced updated rules for fee collection in private schools for the 2026–27 academic session.
According to the new guidelines, the academic year started on April 1, 2026, while matric exams have been ongoing since April 10. Schools have been told to collect fees from matric students only up to March. They are not allowed to charge any extra fees from students who are appearing in board exams.
A separate fee system has also been introduced for students moving from Class IX to Class X. This step is aimed at making the payment process clearer during the transition between classes.
Under the new policy, private schools are allowed to collect June and July fees in advance during April and May. However, they must issue separate vouchers for each month. The June fee voucher will be valid until June 30, while the July voucher will remain valid until July 31.
The revised fee rules will apply to students from pre-primary classes up to Class IX. The main purpose of this system is to standardise fee collection and increase transparency for parents.
Meanwhile, the issue of school fees has also reached the courts. Earlier this month, the Sindh High Court allowed a Class IX student to appear in exams on a conditional basis due to a dispute over June and July fees.
The student’s family approached the court after a private school in Karachi issued advance fee challans for June and July. They argued that this practice was against the proper procedure, which led to legal action.
