Punjab declares summer vacations 2026 for schools and colleges

The Government of Punjab has officially announced summer vacations for all public and private educational institutions across the province. Schools and colleges will remain closed starting from May 22, 2026.

The decision was taken due to rising temperatures and ongoing heatwave conditions in many areas. Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat approved the schedule, saying the step was necessary to protect students and teachers from extreme weather.

Colleges Vacation Schedule

According to the Higher Education Department, all government and private colleges will also remain closed from May 22, 2026, to August 22, 2026.

However, some academic activities will continue. BS 4-year programs will keep running classes, and all examinations by boards and universities will be held as per the already announced schedule.

Schools to Remain Closed for Three Months

All schools across Punjab will remain closed for about three months due to the summer break. Regular classes will resume after the holidays.

Reopening Date

All educational institutions, including schools and colleges, will reopen on Monday, August 24, 2026.

Parents and students have been advised to plan accordingly for the long summer vacation period.
