Ramadan 2025: Pakistan Railways announces new ticket booking timings

Pakistan Railways has announced new working hours for reservation offices across the country during the holy month of Ramadan to accommodate passengers and staff observing the fast.

As per the notification issued on Friday, the morning shift will now operate from 7:30 AM to 12:30 PM, while the evening shift will function from 12:30 PM to 5:30 PM.

On Fridays, there will be a scheduled break for Juma prayers from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM.

Meanwhile, reservation offices operating on a single shift will continue with their current working hours. The revised timings will remain effective until the 15th of Ramadan, after which all reservation offices will revert to their regular schedules.

This adjustment aims to streamline services during Ramadan, ensuring smooth operations while facilitating passengers and railway staff.

Pakistan Railways Service Updates

In a separate development, Pakistan Railways has suspended the operations of the Sir Syed Express, according to reports. The decision came after the private company managing the train refused to continue operations due to declining revenue.

The Sir Syed Express, which connected Karachi and Rawalpindi, was previously outsourced to the private sector.

On the other hand, Pakistan Railways has resumed the Shah Hussain Express between Karachi and Lahore, providing much-needed relief to passengers traveling between the two cities.

The train departed from Karachi Cantonment Station at 7:30 PM and is scheduled to arrive in Lahore at 2:15 PM, making stops in major cities such as Hyderabad, Rohri, Bahawalpur, Lodhran, Khanewal, and Faisalabad. The return journey from Lahore will commence at 7:00 PM, reaching Karachi at 2:05 PM.

The Shah Hussain Express comprises 10 economy-class coaches, 2 AC business-class coaches, 2 AC standard-class coaches, 1 power plant, and a brake van, ensuring comfortable travel for passengers.
