The Pakistani hockey team has decided not to travel to India after receiving threats from extremists in India.
The government sources have claimed that Pakistan’s hockey team will not go to India to play the Asia Cup tournament.
Pakistan has always placed sports above domestic politics. Unfortunately, India has politicized sports and made them controversial.
The Indian media is spewing venom against Pakistan, and Indian extremist organizations are openly threatening the Pakistan hockey team.
Furthermore, players cannot be sent to India due to security concerns.
On the other hand, Pakistan reached the final of the U-18 Hockey Asia Cup. In the semi-final, Pakistan defeated Malaysia 3-4 in a penalty shootout.
In the semi-finals of the Under-18 Hockey Asia Cup in Dazhou, China, Pakistan and Malaysia were tied at three goals each, with Malaysia missing two and Pakistan missing one penalty shootout.
The final of the U-18 Asia Cup will be played between Pakistan and Japan on Sunday.
Earlier, Pakistan hockey team, runners up of the Sultan Azlan Shah hockey tournament, was rewarded at the Prime Minister House on Thursday, where they received the cash prizes.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Federal Ministers – Ahsan Iqbal and Attaullah Tarar, Pakistan hockey greats Samiullah Khan, Islahuddin Shehbaz senior and others graced the ceremony in the federal Islamabad.
