UK Commonwealth Scholarships 2025 Announced for Pakistani Students – Here’s How to Apply

ISLAMABAD: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has officially announced the opening of applications for the Commonwealth Scholarships 2025, funded by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC), United Kingdom.

These scholarships aim to support higher education and foster international development by providing Pakistani students the opportunity to pursue postgraduate studies at universities across the UK.

Seat Allocation:

• Master’s Scholarships: 26 seats
• PhD Scholarships: 30 seats

Eligibility Criteria:

• Must be a citizen and permanent resident of Pakistan or Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK)
• Dual nationality holders are not eligible
• A First Division in the last degree is mandatory
• Master’s applicants: Minimum 16 years of education
• PhD applicants: Minimum 17–18 years of education (MS/MPhil)
• HAT test score: At least 60 out of 100 in HAT (General Category I–IV)
• Merit lists will be prepared solely based on HAT scores

CSC (UK) Conditions:

• Selected scholars must begin their studies in the UK by September 2026
• Must provide a complete academic record and two reference letters
• PhD applicants must submit a research proposal and a supporting statement from a UK supervisor
• Scholarships for a second Master’s degree will be granted only in exceptional cases
• Applicants must clearly demonstrate financial need

Application Process:

Candidates must submit online applications on both the HEC portal and the CSC (UK) portal. Incomplete or late submissions on either platform will result in disqualification.

Required Documents:

• Academic transcripts
• CNIC and domicile
• Two reference letters
• HAT result score
• For PhD applicants: Research proposal and supervisor’s statement

Deadline:

All applications must be submitted by October 14, 2025, at 4:00 PM (Pakistan Standard Time).

HEC has also stated that selected scholars will be required to return to Pakistan upon completion of their studies.
