Punjab introduces new model for school financial independence

In Lahore, the Punjab School Education Department has started work on a new plan to give more financial independence to government schools. The plan is called the “Innovative Financing and Partnership Model.”

According to an official order issued by Qaiser Rasheed, school heads across the province have been asked to send their data and suggestions. For now, schools only need to share information, while the actual implementation will happen later.

Authorities have clearly stated that no school land or property will be sold under this plan. Any development or construction work will be funded by private partners, so schools will not face any financial burden.

Schools have been asked to provide full details, including total land area, available space for rent, and clear boundaries of their premises. They also need to get rental estimates from local property dealers and include official DC rates. In addition, schools must submit clear daytime photos of their buildings to ensure transparency.

Officials have stressed that any use of school land or buildings should not disturb academic activities. The main focus should remain on education.

School heads have also been told to hold meetings, record their discussions, and submit clear plans for possible partnerships. The department has strictly banned any involvement of religious, political, or sectarian elements in these proposals.

At the same time, schools are encouraged to work with industrial and commercial organizations, as well as local chambers of commerce, to explore better opportunities.

Overall, this plan aims to support schools financially while keeping education as the top priority.
