Babar Azam unhappy with T20I batting position

Former captain Babar Azam has expressed his dissatisfaction with the decision to bat at number three position in the Pakistan T20I team.

The decision was made by then Head Coach and Team Director Mohammad Hafeez during the T20I series against New Zealand.

However, in the ongoing HBL Pakistan Super League season nine (PSL9), the prolific runs getter batter his preferable opening slot and toped the chart with 498 runs at and impressive average of 62.25.

While speaking to media after the game, the Peshawar Zalmi captain said that he was not under pressure after returning to the opening slot for his franchise.

“I wasn’t under any pressure to score runs as an opener [for Zalmi]. I don’t take pressure of anything. It was Pakistan team’s demand at the time. I did that for Pakistan. If I was asked individually, I wasn’t satisfied with the decision to bat at one down position. However, I did that for Pakistan,” Babar said.

The move was made to accommodate emerging batter Saim Ayub in the team.

Despite his demotion, Babar scored three consecutive half-centuries in the first three matches of the series.
